Blackbird Carbon Fiber Guitars debuts enhanced line at NAMM for 2013
San Francisco– January 24, 2013 - Blackbird launched the Rider steel string small body seven years ago at the NAMM show and today has five high performance models available with the same big sound, small body philosophy. For 2013, the Rider, Lucky 13 and Super OM steel-string models are lighter, stronger and even more responsive than the already impressive previous incarnations. The ukulele and nylon string benefit from new bridge designs and new electronics. "These are some of the best instruments available today and the only ones with a hollow neck uni-body construction which mean they are exceptionally resonant." says founder Joe Luttwak. Resisting the temptation to keep releasing new models, Blackbird has instead focused on making simply superior instruments which are exemplified by the latest line.
Blackbird Rider steel string
Six years after changing players expectations of what a small guitar can be, the iconic carbon fiber Blackbird Rider has been thoroughly updated for 2013. While the proven big sound small body exterior design remains unchanged, the new aluminium fretboard position markers hint at major enhancements below the surface. The 2013 Rider steel-string is lighter, stronger and even more responsive than the already impressive previous incarnation. The tone rivals many full-size guitars while easily fitting in the overhead of a plane and other tight spots others cannot. This new model now comes standard with the ultra-light Mi-Si electronics and sports a new custom soft case. The retains the list price of $2195 and street price of $1595
Blackbird BTU Tenor Ukulele with proprietary Genesis electronics
The MiSi preamp is still the standard electronics on the BTU, but for players who want the next level of tone, we've introduced Blackbird's proprietary Genesis electronics. This premium system is for pros and the most discerning players, - each string powered by its own pickup then summed to a rechargeable on-board preamp. Volume and tone dials, easily accessible at the off-set sound hole for on-board control. To launch this new high performance electronics package, Blackbird will be building a limited edition with Italian racing red interior and all black hardware.
Blackbird Lucky 13
2013, the year of the Lucky 13, brings a new player-facing soundport (that makes three!) and revised bracing for an even more versatile tonal range. The Lucky 13 also benefits from a new custom reinforced gig bag.
